Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 26th this year. Most people have a long weekend to celebrate the holiday. For many people, Memorial Day weekend often signals the beginning of summer.  Celebrations include barbeques, picnics, camping, festivals and more. To military families, Memorial Day weekend symbolizes much more. Memorial Day, itself, is a day to honor those men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
The fallen are honored in a variety of ways in communities throughout the country. Memorial Day parades, wreath laying memorials, and flags placed on the graves of the fallen are some of the ways that we acknowledge the sacrifices made. Check with your local base or community for activities in your area.
Our deployed service members are offered the opportunity to celebrate Memorial by participating in wreath laying and other ceremonies, and fun runs to honor the fallen.
This Memorial Day weekend, why not take some time out to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as kicking off the summer season with a backyard barbeque, camping trip, or any other activity that signals the beginning of summer for you?
