As many families celebrate the holidays this year, thousands of military will be spending their time deployed overseas – many in combat zones. As a small token of appreciation, SargesList is working with Operation Gratitude to collect letters and supplies for care packages.
Operation Gratitude is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that sends care packages to deployed military, wounded warriors and their care givers, military children and their families, veterans and first responders. Their mission is to lift morale and express appreciation and support of the American people. Operation Gratitude has sent 876,805 care packages to U.S. troops to date.
SargesList’s drive will be focusing on letters and personal care items for deployed military. The donations we collect will help Operation Gratitude send their 1 Millionth care package in the upcoming year.
SargesList’s thirteen market managers, who are military spouses stationed at bases worldwide, are each hosting individual collections for care kits, letters to deployed military, or both. They will be working with military and civilian stores to place collection boxes and working with local schools to collect letters.
SargesList employees are grateful for the opportunity to help Operation Gratitude. As a team of military spouses and veterans, they are well aware of the burden ten years of war time has placed upon families. As so much time has passed, it can be easy to forget how important it is to demonstrate support for our troops. We at SargesList feel there is no better time to stand behind them and let them know we’re thinking about them. After all, some of these beloved service members are our family!
Although care packages and letters are a small token of appreciation, it’s a special, personal way to both say thank you and bring our base communities together in the spirit of giving.
The drive for letters and care items comprises the second part of SargesList’s show of support for Operation Gratitude. Last month, to honor Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, we opened a special Amazon store on our blog and will donate the proceeds to help pay for the shipping of Operation Gratitude’s packages. Every $15 raised ships a package to a deployed service member.
If you’d like to get involved, please contact one of our local Boots on the Ground Representatives. If no one is representing your area, you can go directly to Operation Gratitude’s web site for more information about how donate or get involved.
